Ambleteuse is a small seaside village on the Cote d Opale.

It is just off the A16 motorway exit 36 between Calais and Boulogne.

You can park close to the pebbled beach and watch the cross channel ferries.

The first thing you see on the beach is the old fort Which was built to guard the harbour in 1860s now silted up. Napoleon assembled a large part of his British invasion fleet here.

Fort Vauban was also used by the Germans in WW! You can visit the fort but you have to book in advance.

The village as not been over developed and has a few old shops and cafes.

It also as an excellent Second World War Museum Musee 39 - 45 with thousand of original items.

We have stayed at several Gites over the years along this coast and have enjoyed them all.There are plenty of places to visit on this coast.

This cottage is a few miles form Ambleteuse in the village of Les Coquelicots

On the edge of the village with fine country views and walks from the door. 46 kms from Calais, 12 kms from the very popular resort of Hardelot Plage and 17 kms from Wimereux.

Tennis 2 kms, horse-riding 4 kms, shops 5 kms, swimming pool and sailing 12 kms.
