Apt is an old market town in the Provence region of France. The town is on the left bank of the river Coulon in a valley.

It is the main town in the Luberon mountains. It is about 41 miles east of Avignon and a similar distance from Marseille.

The real lavender is used mainly for perfumes and in cookery.
