Ardres is a medieval town about a 15 mins drive down the A26 from Calais.

The town over looks the marshlands that surround Calais.

There is a market held in the town centre every Thursday

The centre has a cobbled street with restored brick and timber framed houses.

On the edge of the town there are some small developments of modern detached houses.

Which make quite a contrast form the old part of town.

Just at the back of the town is a large lake.

You can go fishing or boating you can hire several type of boats motor and rowing.

You can also go mountain biking around the lake.

The accomodation was very comfortable and very quiet.

Breakfast, with an assortment of home baked breads, was very good and delicious. Le Manoir
