Ardres is a medieval town about a 15 mins drive down the A26 from Calais. The town over looks the marshlands that surround Calais. There is a market held in the town centre every Thursday The centre has a cobbled street with restored brick and timber framed houses.

On the edge of the town there are some small developments of modern detached houses.

Which make quite a contrast form the old part of town.

Just at the back of the town is a large lake.

You can go fishing or boating you can hire several type of boats motor and rowing.

You can also go mountain biking around the lake.
