Barfleur
Barfleur is a busy fishing Port about 25 miles from the Port of Cherbourg in Normandy.
We were looking forward to our visit to the Port of Barfleur and we were not disappointed.It is a lovely drive along the coast from Cherbourg on the D116 road.
What we liked about the port was that is was still a working town.It was not over touristy like Honfleur with too many artist shops and post cards.
The Port of Barfleur in Normandy is a beautiful, picturesque port town located along the English Channel. It is a popular tourist destination for its stunning views, quaint shops, and delicious seafood.
Upon arriving in the town, visitors should take a leisurely stroll along the harbour to take in the boats bobbing in the harbor and the views of the English Channel in the distance. Along the harbour are some of the town's oldest buildings, including the Church of Saint-Gervais, which was founded in the 12th century.
Visitors can explore the local shops and restaurants, sampling the local seafood and soaking up the atmosphere of this charming port town. If they are feeling adventurous, they can go on a boat ride out to one of the nearby islands such as the Chausey Islands or the Channel Islands. These islands are home to stunning beaches and other natural attractions.
When the sun sets, visitors should take a stroll along the pier to take in the beautiful sunset views. Barfleur is a great place to enjoy a romantic evening stroll, with the sound of the waves crashing against the pier and the lights from the boats creating a beautiful atmosphere.
The Port of Barfleur in Normandy is a beautiful place to visit. Whether visitors are looking for a romantic getaway, a chance to enjoy some local seafood, or simply to take in the stunning views, there is something for everyone in this charming port town.
We spent an hour walking round the harbour and sea front.Then we stopped at a restaurant overlooking the sea for moules and chips sorry frites.For a reasonable 18 euros plus watching the fishing boats come in and sell their catch on the harbour wall.Just behind the restaurant were a couple of streets of restored cottages some of them you could rent.We spent a very pleasant half day in the Port. it was an easy place to visit with plenty of parking.every thing you would want to see was in a compact area round the harbour.
