BEAUTIFUL FARMHOUSE IN THE TARN

(Midi Pyrenees, FRANCE)

lots of space to relax and enjoy yourselves

lots of space to relax and enjoy yourselves

The farmhouse is ideally situated to enjoy the many attractions the area has to offer.

Equal distance from Gaillac, Lisle sur Tarn and Lavaur with weekly markets and summer fetes where you can dance until the early hours - the locals only too pleased to show you a step or two. The people here are always warm and friendly.

Days out could include the engineering masterpiece (suspension bridge) at Millau, Narbonne beach or Carcassonne. A little closer to home you have Toulouse, Albi or the magnificent trembling rocks of the Sidobre near Castres. Why not try canoeing in Ambialet or the breathtaking Gorges du Tarn .

There are adventure parks for the young and old, beautiful gardens to explore, farms to visit. If you like art or photography there are many hilltop villages that will inspire you. Why not visit the many museums or art galleries or perhaps the Roman remains found locally at Montans. Restaurants cater for most tastes and pockets . Or you could just relax by the pool .

Self catering gite with its own pool and private grounds set in the beautiful Tarn countryside.

The property has been lovingly restored retaining many original features - stone walls and beamed ceilings. It is still a true French farmhouse. The views are unrivaled by any other in the region and are a talking point for those who visit.

All three bedrooms have original wood ceilings and floors and all are comfortably furnished, providing two double rooms, one with shower, and a third twin room with bunk beds.

The kitchen dining area is completely new and use to be 'the cave' where many a bottle of wine was produced in the past.

There is a large luxury bathroom with WC and a separate WC downstairs. There is a comfortable sitting room and a downstairs play room with the option of using as a fourth bedroom.

Outside you have the use of a large undercover area along side the 8X4 swimming pool and surrounding grounds with a footpath leading to a gazebo where you can relax and admire the views.

Making your stay more enjoyable: - Your hosts Angela and Simon are always on hand to answer any questions but we will also respect your privacy .

We will maintain the grounds and check the pool daily. There is now a local taxi service which makes evenings out more enjoyable or we may be able to arrange transport if the taxi isn't available.

Garden tables and chairs, parasols and loungers are provided. The play room has many games to keep the young ones entertained. There are also numerous books and DVDs.

Nearby: - Interesting walks, wildlife, and wild flowers that attract amazing butterflies are on your doorstep. if you are into bird watching bring your binoculars. Birds of prey are a common sight in the valley below. We even have a resident barn owl !

The landscape around the house has inspired many to paint and the dramatic contrasts of light are a photographers dream. With favorable conditions you can see the Black Mountains and the Pyrenees - quite breathtaking. The environment is safe but we ask parents to keep an eye on the little ones as it is quite an exciting place for the young adventurer.

Briatexte is our local village with bread shops, hairdressers, butchers, small grocers and a little road side cafe that serves lunch time menus. The nearest supermarket is at Graulhet - this use to be a wealthy town making its money from the leather industry and many ornate buildings still bear testament to those affluent times. You can also take tourist flights from here.

Locally: - Cosmopolitan Lavaur with its Saturday morning market is not to be missed. Here you will find the Gothic style Cathedral of Saint Alain which celebrated its 900th anniversary in 1998. Many super eating places can also be found here. Gaillac is a beautiful town and the region is renowned for its wine making. There are many things to do and enjoy for all the family.

Aiguelèze just outside Gaillac is a fun packed day out for everyone. Here you can take a boat trip to Albi, mess about on the water or enjoy one of the many activities on offer. Not to be missed is the little tourist steam train which takes you from St Lieux les Lavaur to Les Jardins des Martels - a beautiful floral garden with a farm on site to entertain the children - the gardens are ever changing and well worth the visit.

Lisle sur Tarn is probably the prettiest medieval village I've seen, where you can dine alfresco around the central square during those long summer nights. Historic Cordes sur Ciel is only 1/2 hour away

Other Activities: Flying, Hot air ballon, Microlight, relaxation and wellbeing, ceramics, steam train, parks and gardens, canoeing, museums, wine tasting and much more
