Calais Christmas Market
The Christmas Market in the Port of Calais has a long and storied history. It dates back to the 15th century when it was first established as a trading post for fishermen and merchants. Since then, the market has grown into a popular tourist destination, offering a unique blend of traditional French Christmas gifts, decorations, and treats.
The market is typically open from mid-November through the end of December, allowing visitors to experience the festive atmosphere of the holidays. During this time, vendors offer their wares of handmade crafts, decorations, and delicious treats. Visitors can also find a variety of Christmas-themed activities, such as live music and caroling.
Getting to the Christmas market in the Port of Calais by car from the ferry port is quite easy. Simply follow the signs to Place Crevecour, and you will find plenty of parking available. Once you arrive, you will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the holiday season.
The market is just off one of the main shopping streets in Calais. We arrived about 10am and had no problems parking in the main street the charge was 2 euro for the hour.The market was just setting up I would get there around 11 30 it should be fully open by then. We went early to fit in several of the other Christmas market in the area.

At the end of the street the market opened out into a square with lots more stalls.There is several cafes in this area as it was fairly cold a warm coffee and croissant were very welcome. Popular places to eat out restaurants in the town. A local Map of the town

The market had a good range of gifts at fair prices. A good range of craft items pictures and jewellery. During the week there is a firework display on the 16th
A parade on the 14th with Father Christmas and sleigh with reindeer starting at 3pm

Holiday Inn Calais
Calais has been the traditional landfall on the European mainland for generations of travellers.
The Holiday Inn Calais hotel is conveniently situated in the town centre. Both the Channel Tunnel and the Ferry port are within close proximity to the hotel. Calais is linked to the European motorway network via the A26 and A16. London, Paris and Brussels are less than 3 hours drive from Calais
Holiday Inn Calais is facing the harbour. Casino, beach and shopping centres are in a close distance from the hotel.
The brand new Lace Museum, the 39-45 War Museum, the statue of "Les Six Bourgeois de Calais" by Rodin, the Town Hall (UNESCO Patrimony) are in a walking distance from the hotel
