Most day trippers head out of Calais on the ring road which leads to the vast shopping mall complex at Cite Europe. The centre shops opens at 10am but you want get there at 9am. The car park although large fills very quickly,you can get a very good continental breakfast 5e inside while you wait for the shops to open. The shops offer a wide selection of products but there prices are geared to the tourist market better prices can be had on the outskirts of town. A wharehouse city of discount booze outlets have set up on the western side of Calais.We found fuel on cite europe car park to be cheaper for diesel and petrol.Diesel is usually about a £1 a gallon cheaper than the UK petrol on our last visit was more than the UK People miss out on the towns many interesting museums and fine restaurants. Popular restaurants a selection of places to eat out in the town. The beach is very good for a busy Port with rows of white beach huts. Holiday Inn CalaisCalais has been the traditional landfall on the European mainland for generations of travellers. The Holiday Inn Calais hotel is conveniently situated in the town centre. We have stayed at several Gites along this coast and have enjoyed them all This cottage is a few miles from Ambleteuse in the village of Les Coquelicots not far from Calais
On the edge of the village with fine country views and walks from the door. 46 kms from Calais, 12 kms from the very popular resort of Hardelot Plage and 17 kms from Wimereux. Tennis 2 kms, horse-riding 4 kms, shops 5 kms, swimming pool and sailing 12 kms. Try a camping holiday in France there are campsites all over France.
