Christmas Markets Northern France for several years we have been coming to see the Christmas markets near Calais.Most of the towns have a market which starts the first week in December and runs to the 24th.Some run to the new year in the larger towns.

We stay in a Gite about 20 miles from Calais just off the A16 motorway which is a good central place to visit the markets.Our favourite market is at Ardres the market goes all round the old streets and into some of the buildings as well.We bought some nice hand made jewellery.The best part for me was the warm mulled wine and hot roasted chestnuts.

Calais market is very good it is right in the centre at Place Crevecour you can park in the streets nearby

Boulogne sur mer Christmas market is held around the 12th of December in the old town

Bethume is nice old town with a good Xmas market

Douai market is also worth a visit at Douai Place d`Armes and just up the road is one of the largest Christmas market in the city of Arras Lille is also very good but parking can be a problem with any large city.

We prefer the small towns like Gravelimes the market is in front of the town hall

These are just a few of the markets to visit if the weather is bad you can always go to the Cite of Europe shopping centre they always have plenty of attraction to see

This cottage is a few miles from Ambleteuse in the village of Les Coquelicots

On the edge of the village with fine country views and walks from the door. 46 kms from Calais, 12 kms from the very popular resort of Hardelot Plage and 17 kms from Wimereux.

Tennis 2 kms, horse-riding 4 kms, shops 5 kms, swimming pool and sailing 12 kms.
