Cite of EuropePhotos of our trip to the Cite of Europe shopping centre which is just a few miles from Calais.We visit the centre a couple of times a year but we always go in December to stock up for Christmas
The photos show a childrens slide and the Father Christmas grotto in the main entrance to the centre. The photo shows one of the many shop in the centre Chocolate shop  The Carrefour supermarket in the centre has a vast range of goods as you can see in the photos below The centre has a Tesco thats sells beer and wine Walnuts in the Carrefour supermarket  A small section of the fresh fruit available  A selection of cured ham  We bought a large ham for 34 euros If you have more time it is worth travelling 10 miles outside Calais to the Auchan supermarket.Which is just before you get to Boulogne on the A16 motorway.Leave the motorway at exit 31 for St Omer follow the sign for Centre Commercial.The code for your Sat Nav is 62200 It the largest supermarket I have been in the prices are cheaper than the supermarkets in Calais. UpdateAnother December and we are back at the Cite Europe shopping centre.The photo below shows the 2010 christmas display not a lot as changed in the year apart from Tesco pulling out of the centre.The centre was not over busy there seemed to be more people from the Uk than French when we visited. There are plenty of Hotels to stay at in Calais if you want to stay longer.
