Strasbourg is built on the banks of the Ill River Close to were it joins the Rhine river. The city is in the Alsace region of France close to the German border. We were travelling by car, most of the city centre is pedestrian, So you need to park in one of the large car parks and use the tram to take you to the centre. You could park all day for £2 the town centre is on a small island circled by the River Ill and old canal.

The city centre is made up of winding streets with timber-framed houses dating back to the 16th and 17th century.

The houses were originally the homes of millers, tanners and fishermen.

The centre has the usual shops, cafes, and restaurants.

There is a farmers market with fresh produce on Tuesday and Saturday mornings on bd de la Marne.

Strasbourg has several parks of historical interest and it also has a zoo.

There are several interesting museums and the sandstone Gothic Cathedral is a must see
