The old town of Colmar is in the Alsace region of France. The town is about 40 miles from Strasbourg it is in the middle of the Alsatian wine growing area. The town enjoys a sunny climate and is one of the driest places in France. Which makes it ideal for producing wine. The town is on the banks of the Lauch river and is connected to the Rhine river. The museum Bartholdi is also worth a visit you can see the work of the nineteenth-century sculptor. He was responsible for New York's Statue of Liberty, There is a replica of the statue on the (D83) about a mile from the town centre
