Concarneau Brittany photos and travel guide of our visit to the holiday resort and fishing port. The resort was just up the road from where we were staying in Saint Yvi in an old Water Mill house.The City of Quimper is about 16 miles away The harbour at Concarneau
Concarneau is on the Finistere coast it has a large fleet of small fishing boats.The town is in two parts a modern sea front with excellent free parking right in front of the harbour and shops.Then you have the very nice old part which is in the harbour. You enter by a bridge into the fortified part of the town.The old town is mainly traffic free I did see a car come over the bridge.The streets are narrow and full of shops and restaurants. Prices were not too high we purchased two picture frames from a end of season sale.This area of Concarneau is compact and easy to walk round. You can take the tourist road train from the entrance to the old town it takes you
round the town for about an hour.There is a large Market held in the car park opposite the old town.We
visited on a Friday morning it is also held on Monday.
