Grand-Fort-Philippe is just up the coast from Calais and before you get to Dunkerque.
The town is on the banks of the river Aa estuary.
This area is full of interesting old buildings, museums, shops.
You can try most water sports, sand yachting and river or sea fishing.

The sea museum is good it tells the history of the port.

Local traders still use traditional methods salting, drying and smoking fish over wood fires

They smoke salmon herring and mackerel which you can buy in the local shops.

The yacht marina

The town has a market every Monday morning where you can buy local produce.

The area is spilt into seven districts we managed to visit four of them.

We will go back and visit the other three there is so much to see and do.

If you want to stay in the area you will find a wide range of accommodation.

There are campsites, Gites, B/Bs, and Hotels to cater for all price ranges.
