Hardelot Plage is a busy seaside town on the Cote dOpale.

Just a few miles down the coast from the port of Boulogne.

Hardelot is a up market resort very similar to Le Touquet further down the coast.

On the outskirts of the town there is a large wooded area.

This is where you will see top of the range seaside villas and houses.

The town has two golf courses and the usual beach sports.

The town centre as you can see in the photos has a good mix of shops, cafes and restaurants.

There is a Gourmet Sunday market between April and September.

You could buy jams made out of the bushes found in the sand dunes.

The fruit of the wild rose bush and fruit from the sea buckthorn.

If you want to stay you can find a good choice of hotels, B/Bs and campsites in the area.

If you have a car it is worth the short drive to the village of Condette to see the Chateau of Hardelot or watch the video on the Castle Hardelot page

Golf d'Hardelot

There are two courses for you to try.

“Les Pins” a Tom Simpson classic and “Les Dunes” more challenging both technically and physically pine-lined fairways, fantastic condition, quick but fair greens

Just 5 mins from Hardelot, 30 mins south of Calais

Update

We last visited Hardelot Plage in the summer when it was very busy.We had spent the morning shopping at the Christmas Market in Boulogne and were wondering where to have lunch. Hardelot Plage is only about 11 miles down the coast so we decided to see what it is like in winter.It was a bright sunny day for the middle of December so we parked almost on the beach for our lunch.

After lunch we went for a walk round the town centre shops which were mainly closed for the winter. The town is surrounded by luxury houses in the half million and above price range most looked like they were only used at the weekends and holidays.

A modern country resort opened in 1992, located in a green setting 1.5 kilometres from the beach. Guestrooms feature blue and white décor and enjoy forest or park views; all have TVs and Internet connections.

Guests can swim in the outdoor pool or try their luck at the traditional French game of boules in the hotel grounds. or relax in the sauna.
