Our visit to Honfleur in Normandie. The town is on the coast a few miles from Deauville. Across the estuary and the river Seine is the ferry port of Le Havre. Reached by the Pont de Normandie bridge.

This is our second visit to Honfleur and we were interested to see if it had changed in the four years since our last visit. It was certainly a lot busier we made a mistake and visited on a Sunday.You could not get near the centre so we gave up and headed to our Gite in Le brevedent 12 miles away. We returned on the Monday it was still busy but you could park the car.

This car park is only 200yds from the centre and cost about 3 euros for 2 hours pay before you leave. Honfleur is a gem, with its narrow, 17th-century harbour filled with tall masted boats and lined with tall, slender, pastel-washed houses. Narrow cobbled streets lined with ancient timbered houses lead up from the harbour. Cafés and restaurants set up tables and umbrellas outside so that customers can enjoy the sun and the picturesque location. Small wonder that this pretty port has inspired artists, writers, and musicians. In addition to having quaint shops and inviting fish restaurants, Honfleur is a haven for artists and there are a number of galleries to visit
