WWll rocket base

La Coupole was a WWll German V2 rocket base.
The base is about 4 miles outside St Omer and a 45 mins drive from the coast at Calais.
The base is cut into a wooded hill the only bit that you can see is the dome. Which sticks out of the top of the hill and is 5 metres thick.
There is a large car park with picnic tables just outside the entrance. Inside is a cafe and book shop the site is open most of the year except Christmas.

Which is built into a mountain. If it was not for the signposts you could drive pass and not see it.

The museum supply you with an audio headset in most languages it is triggered when you reach points of interest.

The tour is a mixture of exhibits and audio visual displays, showing the history of the site.

The slave labour that built the place and the rockets which were made there.

You can see how rockets made here developed into the American space program.

The car is a Citroen Traction used by the French Resistance
