and the coast. A couple of miles from the charming little village of Blangy Le Chateau and 5 miles from
the small town of Cormeilles.
The sign for Le Brevedent
We choose this little village of a few houses as our base for our trip to Normandy. It is an ideal position just 15 miles from the coast. There are so many things to see within 50 miles of the village. We took the short ferry crossing Dover to Calais and then drove the 170 miles down to Le Brevedent.
To reach the Gite that we rented you had to drive down this very narrow lane.Fortunately there was not much traffic although we did meet the local school bus once and had to back up.There were several nice residential homes along the track before you came to our rented Gite. The Gite was set in about 2 acres of land and was a typical Normandy cottage. The cottage was surrounded by several apple orchards this is one of the Calvados brandy producing area. You can visit the local distillers and buy the Calvados. The photo below show our rented Gite Le Brevedent Gite
We were able to eat out on the terrace every night and enjoy the local food and drink.Which you can buy from the markets
in the area there is one on every day. The weather was warm enough for a couple of early breakfast outside as well.
The first job in the morning around 8am was the trip to the local bakery in Blangy le Chateau. To buy really fresh bread and
croissant`s to have with fresh fruit and coffee.
A red squirrel in the garden
The red squirrel visited the garden every morning. It took me all week to get close enough to take
a picture.

Situated at the edge of a peaceful hamlet, and close to the coastal town of Honfleur, this pretty half-colombage detached holiday home has been beautifully restored by its owners. The large garden offers plenty of shade from mature trees and you can see the tip of the Pont de Normandie beyond the church spire. Honfleur (5km) is perhaps the most recognised of Normandys coastal towns and has become a mecca for artists from all over the world. with its picturesque cobbled streets and harbour, Try a camping holiday in France there are campsites all over France.
