Le Crotoy
The Port of Le Crotoy is a picturesque fishing port located on the Baie de Somme in northern France. It is a tranquil and beautiful destination for tourists and locals alike. It is about 10 miles from the large town of Abbeville
This was our second visit to the town last time we came by train.We caught the narrow gauge Somme Bay Railway train.From Saint Valery sur Somme . which takes you all round the area.This time we drove from the village of Wamin about 30 miles away.We visited the village on a Friday morning the same day as the weekly market.So it was very busy the market is held on the sea front.We managed to park in a street nearby and walked down to the sea wall.

The history of the port dates back to the 12th century when it was first established as a fishing village by the Normans. In the 16th century, the port became an important trading hub for the region, with ships from England, Holland, and Spain docking here to buy and sell goods.
Today, the Port of Le Crotoy remains a popular destination for both locals and tourists. It is still home to a traditional fishing industry, and visitors can watch the boats come in and out of the harbor with their fresh catches. There are also plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops to explore.
For those looking to explore the area further, there are plenty of places to see in and around the port. The surrounding area is full of stunning beaches, quaint villages, and stunning views of the bay. The nearby town of Saint Valery-sur-Somme is home to some beautiful churches and a museum, while the nearby town of Abbeville offers an excellent selection of cafes and restaurants.
The Port of Le Crotoy is a charming and beautiful destination for a day trip or weekend getaway. Whether you are looking for a peaceful escape or a fun day out, this port has something for everyone.
The fishing port is a mixture of Fishermens cottages and holiday homes.
The estuary is over looking the Baie de Somme you can take a boat trip from Saint Valery sur Somme.
