My Daughter`s visit to the Louvre museum in Paris
The Louvre in Paris, France is one of the most beautiful museums in the world. I had the pleasure of visiting it last year on a trip to France. The Louvre is easily accessible by the subway, although taking a taxi is probably more comfortable. I went to see the museum during the month of July. I do not recommend this time of year due to the excessive heat. Very rarely will there be any air conditioning on the ride there and especially once you enter the museum. The only air conditioned areas are the ones with the paintings, not the sculptures. Dress for heat and bring a sweater. Also wear comfortable shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking. I had to walk at least ¾ of a mile to get to the Mona Lisa. Due to the Mona Lisa’s popularity, I recommend getting there early. There is usually a mob of people in front of the painting with two armed guards on either side. It makes it very difficult to see. There is also a lot of people waiting to get into the museum. I went in the middle of the day and there was a line halfway around the building. You will have to go through security before you enter the museum, so if you are bringing children, bring a toy for them to play with. There are many different parts to the museum so take a lot of film or extra batteries for your camera. If you plan to spend the whole day there I would pack a lunch. There are places to eat in and around the Louvre but I found them expensive. I packed bottled water for my boyfriend and I, a few sandwiches, snack and a cold pack. I was able to fit it in a backpack so lugging it around was not too bad. The best tip of all is to just enjoy. Relax and take in the beauty of what you see. It is worth it.
