Montreuil sur Mer Citadel If you are in the area it is well worth visiting. You can park right outside just turn off the main street opposite the Hotel de France.

The photo shows the entrance go through to the small gift shop. The price to go round the site including the ramparts was 2 euros [ June 2008 ] which is excellent value.The view from the ramparts is worth the entrance fee alone. You can see the lighthouse at Le Touquet, the forest of Hesdin and the old Carthusian monastery.

When you see the height of the walls it is hard to imaging anyone getting over. If you did you the had a ditch and another 25 foot wall.
