Our visit to Montreuil sur Mer Montreuil-sur-mer is a small French town in the Pas de Calais region. The partly walled town has cobbled streets, it is built on the banks of the Canche river not far from the fishing port of Etaples. You can get a good view of the town from the town`s ramparts. Montreuil was the setting for much of the early part of Victor Hugo`s novel Les Miserables.
