The Champs Elysees

in France is one of the most spectacular places on the planet. With views of the Arc de Triomphe it is breathtaking

Events at Champs include the annual Bastille day it is lovely parade with breathtaking sights and sound. From the end of November to December you can also you view the holiday seasons lighting.

Not just the big attractions draw you to the Champs Elysees there are also hundreds of fashion stores along this classy street and if you get hungry while browsing why not take part in some of the finest dinning around. There are also many fine hotels neat by with the quality and beauty you would expect from France

The Champs-Elysées is used for all the major celebrations. This is where Parisians celebrate New Year's Eve and where the military parades are held on the 14th of July.

Historic national events, like the Liberation at the end of the Second World War or the victory in The World Cup football were also celebrated on this wide avenue.

The spectacular Champs-Elysees Avenue is 2 kilometres long and 80 meters wide. With the Avenue de la Grande Armee on the other side of the Arc de Triomphe, they represent altogether a 7 kilometre straight perspective from the Concorde square to La Defense business district, West from Paris.

The animation and city life on the Champs Elysees were at their top during the first half of the 20th century. The latest redesign of the prestigious avenue was done in 1994 by Bernard Huet. The side lanes were converted into pedestrian zones, an underground parking lot was created and new trees were planted. Cars now only occupy half the width of this grand avenue. Throughout history the avenue has gone through many stages of development from its early stages as a tree lined park to what it is today.
