Nantes is a city in the Pays de la Loire région of France, near the Atlantic coast.

It is built on the banks of the Loire river and is one of the larger cities in France.

The older medieval part of the city is concentrated around the restored Gothic Cathédrale St-Pierre St-Paul.

The centre is mainly pedestrian streets. So you can walk around the narrow cobbled streets.

You can find every kind of restaurant in this area. Plus a large variety of shops and cafes.

Most of the large designer names can be found around rue Crébillon.

The nearby Passage Pommeraye is a 19th-century shopping arcade on 3 levels and is well a worth a visit.

For a large city Nantes has a lot of very large parks. The city has lots of restaurants if you try the set menu you can eat from about £10.

Places to visit the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany a History Museum near the town centre on 4 place Marc-Elder.

The Machines de l’Ile is a must it is like a theme park and museum for Jules Verne. Try the mechanical grand elephant ride.you can find the museum at Bd Léon Bureau 44200 it is on the bank of the river Loire.

One of the best ways to find out your way round the sites of the city.Is the road train Le Petit Train de Nantes a 40 minute trip from Place Saint-Pierre near the Cathedral.

We spent a day there in Oct we had been touring in the Brittany area.

You can park just outside the pedestrian area and the centre is an easy walk.

There is a fast train service from Paris the TGV takes about 2 hours.
