Nanteuil-en-Vallee is a lovely, ancient picturesque village and has an abbey built by Charlemaine and was a stop off point for the pilgrims en-route to Santiago de Compostella. It boasts 2 good restaurants, a post office, a butcher, a baker, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, a doctor?s clinic, school and a small, general store (epicerie).

The nearby market town of Ruffec has several cafes, restaurants, a market, selection of shops, hairdressers, banks, supermarkets etc and is only a few minutes drive from our house
