Oye Plage a small seaside town in France Our visit to Oye Plage near Calais photos and guide
Oye Plage is about 10 miles from Calais going towards Dunkerque. The town is right on the coast almost in the sand dunes. There are several camp sites almost on the beach. You can search for a Hotel deal in the area here
You can drive down to the beach  The long sandy beach stretches to the Platier nature reserve. If you like plants and animals in there natural state this is the place to visit. Bring your binoculars for spotting migrating birds and viewing this unspoilt area. The best vantage point is the observatory where you can see over the wetlands and its wealth of flora and fauna. My wife had the beach to herself  Sand dunes  In the distance you can just see the outline of Dunkerque This is the area where the British army were evacuated in WWll. The troops were hidden in the sand dunes before wading in to the sea to the small boats. Best Western Lorette Opera Hotel Paris
