The medieval village of Perouges is built on a plateau overlooking the river valleys of the Rhone and Ain rivers. The village is about 20 miles from the city of Lyon. It was voted one of the most beautiful villages in France Perouges has some of the best preserved medieval buildings in France.
Perouges street  You can park outside the village ramparts by one of the two entrances to the village. The Porte d`en Haut from here you can walk the walls and the village it is about a mile. The village has a lot of bars, cafes and restaurants. .Places to eat in the village price start from about £15.If you need a rest from walking round the narrow streets A narrow street in the villages  There is a good mix of shops to visit from food to antiques. We notice a couple of hotels in the area
Hostellerie du Vieux Perouges is an old atmospheric hotel in 13th century building; With a restaurant and bar in the medieval city 1 km from rail station.
You will notice in the photos that there are not many people about. I have a habit of arriving at dinner time when the streets are empty. The French like there dinner breaks
