Pittefaux
Pittefaux is located in the department of Nord in Northern France. It is home to around 700 people and is situated in the heart of the countryside. The village has a long and interesting history, dating back to the Middle Ages when it was a fortified settlement. In the 16th century, Pittefaux was part of a network of fortifications built to protect the region from hostile forces. It is a village 5 miles from the port of Boulogne sur Mer. It is a simular distance to the seaside town of Wimereux
Pittefaux is about 2 miles up the road from where we stay in Wierre Effroy. We drive through the village ever time we go out and have been meaning to take some photos for the last 5 years.The village is in a valley between two hills it has a large old Chateau and a water mill.
There are a few terrace cottages and converted farmhouses in the village but no shops. Shopping is not a problem just through the village you turn left up the hill.In about 2 miles you come to a large retail park at Saint-Martin-Boulogne which has one of the largest Auchan hyper markets in France.We do most of our shopping here prices lower than Calais which is more for the tourists on day trips.

The village is home to several historic sites, including the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, which dates back to the 13th century. The church is a great example of Gothic architecture and is well-preserved. There is also an old castle, which was once the residence of a local noble family. It is now open to the public and is a popular tourist attraction.
Nearby, visitors can explore the beautiful natural landscape of the region. There are numerous walking trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The local forest is a great place for a leisurely stroll or a picnic.
There are also plenty of activities to enjoy in the area, such as fishing, canoeing, and cycling. For those who are looking for a more adventurous experience, there are plenty of rock climbing and mountain biking opportunities nearby.
Finally, the nearby city of Lille has a wealth of attractions to explore. The city is home to several museums, galleries, and historic sites, as well as a vibrant nightlife and excellent shopping. There are also several excellent restaurants and bars to enjoy.
