Pont Aven photos and travel guide of our visit to this town in Finistere Brittany. The town is 11 miles from the fishing village of Doelan. It is about 10 miles from the town of Concarneau where we were staying The river Aven
Pont Aven is a very attractive town on the river Aven the river divides the town in two.We had followed the river from the coast near the fishing port of Doelan.Pont Aven is about 10 miles from the coast. We visited in September so the town was not as busy as it would be in July or August. We found a nice spot to park right next to the river. On the Rue du Port about 200yds from the town centre. The river is very clean and fast flowing it used to have several working watermills. The mills are still there there but do not have there wheels anymore. That is apart from one which is now a restaurant. The town has a good selection of shops and restaurants and art galleries. We found a good poster shop with some reasonable priced poster of Pont Aven and the surrounding towns. We bought several I still have not got round to getting them framed but I will A nice thatched roof Restaurant
