Port of CalaisPort of Calais we arrive in Calais usually on a PO ferry about 3 times a year.We then take the A16 motorway south and pass round the town. So this year while we had more time we decided to explore more of the town. We were touring round the Christmas Markets in a 20 mile radius of Calais. The first place we headed for was the seafront follow the signs for plage.As you can see in the photo it is a good flat Promonade with plenty of parking. The beach was very clean and had maybe one hundred beach huts could be more. So it must be very popular in summer.We were there on the 12th of December 2008. Although it was a nice sunny day there was a cold wind blowing that day not ideal for the beach. Most people would be inside the The sea front Calais

The photo below shows a good cafe just off the main shopping street.
We called in for a coffee and a piece of apple tarte very welcome on a cold
winters day.
