Quimper in Brittany photos and travel guide to our visit to this large City. The City is about 20 miles from where we were staying in an old mill house near the Finistere coast Bridge over the river Odet in Quimper
Quimper is a very busy city it is about 4 years since our last visit. So as it was only 20 mins from our rented gite we decided to have another look.We arrived at 4 pm on a bright sunny afternoon. After driving round the old part of the city 3 times without finding a parking space we decided to come back the next day. We got there for 9 am and got parked straight away unfortunately the weather was misty with fine rain. We took the tourist train from in front of the Cathedral a good way to see the old town the trip took about an hour. When we got back it had stopped raining so we were able to walk round the narrow streets. There are plenty of shops and cafes in the timber framed buildings. Quimper is famous for it`s pottery which was expensive but is handmade. The Cathedral has been restored to a high standard and is well worth a visit there is no charge. You can see our photos of the Cathedral Here Tourist train outside the Cathedral
