The old French town of Semur en Auxois
The old French town of Semur-en-Auxois is in the Burgundy region.
It is about 25 miles from The town of Avallon. The town is one of the most attractive places in Burgundy.
It is built on a rocky hillside over looking the river Armançon. Which flows through the middle of the town with houses on both sides.

When visiting Semur en Auxois in Burgundy, you'll find plenty to do and see. The town itself is a medieval gem, with its ancient walls and ramparts, cobbled streets, and charming houses with traditional French shutters. Start your exploration in the centre of town, at the Place de la Libération, where you can admire the 12th century stone bridge over the River Armançon.
The main attraction in the town is the Château de Semur, a fortress built in the 11th century and now home to a museum and art gallery. Inside, you'll find a collection of medieval artifacts and artwork, as well as a restaurant. From the castle, you can take a stroll along the ramparts for stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
The town is also home to several churches, including the Church of St Martin and the Notre Dame Church. Both churches offer beautiful architecture and artwork, and are worth a visit.
If you're looking for outdoor activities, the nearby Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan offers plenty of trails for walking and biking, as well as lakes for swimming and fishing. The town is also home to several vineyards, where you can sample some of the region's finest wines.
For shopping and dining, the charming Rue de la République is the place to go. Here, you'll find a variety of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques.

If you are visiting on the 31st of May the town holds a horse race which was first held in 1639
