Toulouse is a city built on the banks of the river Garonne in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It is one of the fastest growing regions in France. The photo below shows the city and the Canal du Midi which runs through most of France to the Mediterranean Sea.
The Canal du Midi with the city of Toulouse  The old town centre has several squares and narrow medieval streets. We liked the rue d'Alsace-Lorraine/rue du Languedoc, for shopping it is quite a long street. On Wednesday there is a large general market where you can buy anything. It is a mixture of food, clothes and a feamarket it is at Place du Capitole. There is a food market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings in the same place.
