Tournehem sur La Hem was the next village we wanted to see in the Hem valley area. It is only a few miles from our last stop at Licques

We drove into the village square where you can park your car. There are a couple of cafes and a shop. From the square you can see the remains of the old ramparts.The village is quite compact so is easy to walk round.Which is a good thing as our visit was on a cold and showery day in December. We will have to come back in the summer. A short distance from the square you will see an old mill next to the river Hem. There are several excursions along the river in summer.The river trips will take you to see the church of Notre Dams de la Foret 1718

We stay in this area when we do our Christmas shopping it is close to the ferry port at Calais.There are lots of small seaside towns within a short drive.Like Wimereux and Hardelot Plage to name just two.

This cottage is a few miles from Ambleteuse in the village of Les Coquelicots

On the edge of the village with fine country views and walks from the door. 46 kms from Calais, 12 kms from the very popular resort of Hardelot Plage and 17 kms from Wimereux.

Tennis 2 kms, horse-riding 4 kms, shops 5 kms, swimming pool and sailing 12 kms.
