Carcassonne is famed for its castle, and the Aude is a huge wine producing area. The Canal du Midi is accessible at Trebes, the Med is about 50 minutes away by autoroute, with skiing in the Pyrenees and access to Spain about 90 minutes.
The area can be reached by air via Carcassonne, Toulouse, Beziers and Montpellier airports, as well as Barcelona(Girona or Barcelona)
