The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel. Construction started in 1887 and took just over two Eiffel Tower, Paris, France years to complete. The finished article stands 342 metres high, weights 7000 tons and is made of iron and 2.5 million rivets.
It was the tallest building in the world until 1930 when the Empire State Building beat it.
Since it has opened over 210 million people have visited, making it one of the most popular attractions in the world. Initially the Eiffel Tower was only supposed to stand for twenty years and then be torn down, but once it was discovered to be a good place for communication devices it was allowed to stay.
The Eiffel Tower has three levels. There are two restaurants, though expensive you may be willing to treat yourself to eat in this unique spot overlooking the city. On the first floor you will find Altitude 95.

There are a number of souvenir shops located throughout the Eiffel Tower. They are on the ground level, the first floor and the second floor so you won't miss the opportunity to pick up a reminder of your visit.
One of the best ways to reach the Eiffel Tower is to hop on the metro and get off at Trocadero Station and walk the rest of the way past beautiful fountains and numerous street performers.
Ideally you will want to visit at nighttime when the entire Eiffel Tower is illuminated with sparkling white light. Sunset is also another great time to look out over the city from the top floor.
