Sainte Marie du Mont France

Sainte Marie du Mont is a nice little village a few miles from Utah beach.We spent 4 days in a Gite a couple of miles outside the village.We were revisiting the D-Day beaches and surrounding towns and villages.Visiting Sainte Marie du Mont is like going back in time.If there were no cars parked on the street you would think it was the 1940s.There was a battle on D-Day in the village between the American 101st Airborne Division and the German troops.

Museum of the Occupation

We parked outside the museum which was the office for the German garrison.There is a lot of interesting stuff from the German time in the village.

Our Lady of the Assumption is an old church in the village we had a walk round and took a few photos.The church dates back to the 11th century and is a listed building

Musee de la liberation

An interesing Museum mainly WW2 vehicles worth a look.
