Beynac-et-Cazenac is a old village on the banks of the Dordogne river.
The village is built on narrow terraces overlooking the river.
There is a Hotel and a few shops you can take boat trips in the summer.
150m above the village is Beynac castle you can see it in the photos.
If you want to visit the castle you can park in the village.
You can then walk up the very steep road to the castle about 15 mins.
Or you can drive up the D 703 and park at the top.
Upon arriving in Beynac-et-Cazenac, visitors can not help but be captivated by the picturesque beauty of the old village nestled on the banks of the Dordogne river. The village is surrounded by ancient limestone cliffs, and its winding cobbled streets are filled with historic buildings, many of them dating back to Medieval times.
The main attraction in Beynac-et-Cazenac is the Château de Beynac, a 12th-century fortress perched atop a cliff overlooking the river. Visitors can take a guided tour of the castle, exploring its many rooms and terraces, and learning about its long and fascinating history. The castle is also home to a lush garden, where visitors can relax and take in the spectacular views of the river below.
Other attractions in Beynac-et-Cazenac include the Church of Saint-Sauveur, a Romanesque-style church dating back to the 12th century, as well as the village ancient stone bridge, which was built in the 16th century. Visitors can also explore the many shops and restaurants, or take a boat tour of the Dordogne river.

The castle is open to the public at most times it cost 7 euros to go in when we visited.
The view from the top down the Dordogne valley is worth the money on its own.
The castle was once captured by Richard the Lion heart King of England.
During the 100 year war the ownership changed hands between the French and English.Places to eat in the village and Map of the area
