Le Breuil en Auge was a about 3 miles from Saint Philbert des Champs another Normandy village. We were staying a similar distance away at Le Brevedent in a Gite. The building you can see in the photo just behind the village sign was the home for three donkeys. It would make a fine Gite with its thatched roof.

The area of Le Breuil en Auge has been inhabited since the 11th century, when it was part of a royal estate. The village was officially founded in 1218, when it was granted a charter by King Philip II of France. Throughout the Middle Ages, the village was a thriving agricultural center and was home to many craftsmen.
