Ardres
Ardres is a nice old town about 10 miles from Calais. We visited the town in June on our way to Guines so it was just a quick visit.
We liked the place so much we decided to come back in December to see the Christmas Market
Ardres has many things to see and do its public gardens. The old houses built with chalk stone and sand bricks. A street of lime trees planted in 1766 A local market on Thursday morning on the main car park It makes a good base to tour the Hem valley a place we visited for the first time.

The old town has a good choice of shops and cafes to walk round. In the centre there is a good tourist office where you can pick up info on the area.There is plenty of free parking we visited on market day which is on the main car park.You can still park in the nearby streets.
