Cannes is in the Cote d'Azur region of France about 15 miles from Nice.
If you drive to any of the towns on the French Riviera.
In the summer you will find them blocked with traffic.
The coast roads are narrow and twisty and get jammed with traffic in the summer.
When you get to Cannes you are better parking the car in one of the many car parks.
We found one near to the port and the old part of town.
If this is your first trip to the town it is worth visiting the tourist office.It is next to the train station. You will find it at 20, avenue Pierre-Semard 06400.You can get a town map plus updates on local events.
We usually take a trip on the road train which takes you round the places to see.

The old town has narrow streets filled with cafes, restaurants and the usual gift shops.

If you keep walking up the hill you will come to The 12th-century Tour de Mt. Chevalier ramparts
Where you get a good view of the port and bay.
The short boat trip to the islands of Ste-Marguerite and St-Honorat is worth doing

There is a large market on every day at Forville and a flea market on Mondays.
If you are looking more upmarket then Cannes has lots of top of the range jewellery shops and haute-couture clothing shops.
Also art galleries and antique shops.

We enjoyed just walking down the Croisette the promenade you can see in the photo.
Cannes has plenty of hotels from small B/Bs up to 5 star hotels you can see the most popular here.
