Located on the western coast of France, Deauville is a popular seaside resort that offers a wide range of activities and attractions. From its sandy beaches to its lively nightlife, Deauville has something for everyone.
Deauville is also a great place to visit if you're looking for a relaxing holiday. The town is laid back and there's plenty of places to stay without having to spend a fortune. Plus, the area has some of the best beaches in Normandy. The town became very popular with the rich and famous in the 1930. People came to the Casino you could fly into the small airport right on the edge of town or the ferry to Caen.
Deauville isn't just captivating to the eyes; it's equally interesting to the history buffs. Established in the mid-19th century by Duke Charles Auguste Louis Joseph de Morny, Napoleon III's half-brother, Deauville quickly became a hot-spot for the French high society. Despite this rather fancy heritage, the town has managed to retain its humble and relaxed seaside chic allure that attracts globetrotters.
The Deauville beach, a highlight of the town, is something you simply can't miss. Its colourful parasols and large sandy stretch have won it the title of 'Queen of the Norman beaches'. It's a great beach indeed, offering visitors a relaxing retreat, with plenty of sunshine in the summertime, making it an excellent time for a visit.
When we arrived in the town we headed for the beach end near the Casino. There are lots of parking places next to the beach. There is a nice garden and park area behind the beach where we had our picnic. We then walked the short distance to the beach. Which was very clean and flat my grandchildren said the sand made perfect sand castles. We enjoyed a walk on the wooden board walk which goes all along the beach.Places to eat restaurants in the town
