A visit to the town of Narbonne in the Languedoc-Roussillon region is a great experience for any tourist. The town is filled with history, culture, and stunning architecture.
There are numerous attractions to explore, such as the historic Narbonne Cathedral and the Palace of the Archbishops. Other popular attractions include the Canal de la Robine, the Narbonne Roman ruins, and the Musée Lapidaire.
There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes to enjoy, so you can sample some of the region's delicious cuisine. There are also plenty of activities to enjoy such as cycling, walking, swimming, and more.
The town is linked to the nearby Canal du Midi and the Aude River by the Canal de la Robine, which runs through the centre of town.
If you want to visit
the beach you go to Narbonne Plage. Which has a 3 mile beach
and a marina with 600 mooring.

The town has a good market on a Sunday it is on both sides of
the Canal de la Robine. The old town centre has narrow traffic free
streets and squares and attractive fountains. There is a good choice of shops, boutiques, bakers and cafes. Every morning the food market in 'Les Halles' sells fresh local vegetables, meats, fish, cheeses, pastries and local produced wines. There are several vineyards outside the town and the usual hypermarkets |

The Abbaye de Fontfroide is worth a visit it is about 6 miles outside the town on Route Departemental.You can walk round the historic buildings we liked the rose garden If you get tried of shopping try a boat trip along the canal you can go inland or down to the coast. You can get a boat from the Pont des Marchands. |
The Canal du Midi is popular for boating holidays it goes through some of the best countryside in France.
Cruise the Canal de la Robine from the old Roman town of Narbonne, with its spectacular cathedral and charming canalside restaurants on to the Canal du Midi and the bustling town of Capestang, a major centre for winemaking with a beautiful 12th century Château.
