The Battery Todt
The battery was a threat to both Dover and the coast and shipping in the channel. During the three years the battery was operational the four guns fired 200 shells each. They had periods of up to 2 months when they did not fire the most they fired was 12 shots in a day. The battery was finally captured in September 1944 after two air raids dropped 2000 tons of bombs They did not seem to have damaged the bunker. The German troops gave up when Canadian tanks fired
shells through the loopholes. You can see them in the photo the shells exploded over the explosives
stored under the gun.
The Bunker
 The photo shows the area the gun was, the cement benches behind the museum exhibits had a narrow gauge track to bring in the munitions. You can see it in the right hand corner
The gun had a German navy crew you can see the bedrooms for the men on watch in the photo.
