Bergues is a town in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region of Northern France. It is 5 miles from the Port of Dunkerque
We were shopping in the town of Gravelines which is about 30 mins drive from Bergues. So we decided to visit while in the area I wanted to see the belfry which has 50 bells. You can climb the steps to the top of the tower.The town is only a short distance from the Belgium border. The houses and building are in the Flemish style you would think you were in Belgium. The walls and fortification go right round the town some 5,000 metres. There is a market on Monday morning in the town centre.In the Summer you can take a cruise to Dunkirk on the oldest canal in France the Canal de Bergues Bergues town sign
