Ingredients


Grandmother`s apple tart

Tarte aux pommes grand-mere

1½ lbs / 750g apples peeled, cored, and sliced

3 to 4 tablespoons of sugar

1 egg

3 tablespoons of double cream

a few drops of kirsch

250g / 8ozs of shortcrust pastry recipe here



Line a tart tin with the pastry and arrange the apple slices on the top.

Sprinkle with 2 to 3 table spoons of sugar. Bake in a preheated oven to 180c ,350f or gas4 for 15 mins.

Until the pastry is firm but not brown.

Whisk the egg and 1 tablespoon of sugar, double cream and a few drops of kirsch.

Pour the mixture over the apples and continue to bake for 15 mins or until the cream as set serve hot .
