The new Pegasus bridge

The bridge in the photo is the new bridge the original is in the grounds of the Pegasus museum. The museum is just before the bridge if you are heading toward the port of Caen on the right. Across the bridge on the left is the famous Cafe Gondree which was one of the first place in France to be liberated.

The museum is well worth a visit and has many interesting exhibits both inside and outside in the grounds

The cafe was the first building liberated in France.It is just across the busy road from the museum. I would not recommend having a coffee there ours was luke warm and expensive

This is a replica of a Horsa glider used in the attack it was made using the same wartime methods of construction.352 gliders were used to take the men and materials to the area all were destroyed

Places to visit nearby Pegasus Bridge

There are plenty of places to explore. Just a few minutes away is the nearby village of Ranville, where visitors can explore the old church and the British War Cemetery. The nearby city of Caen is also a great place to explore, with its many shops, restaurants, and attractions. Other nearby locations to explore include the beaches of Omaha and Utah, where the Allied forces landed on D-Day, as well as the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer.
