Port of Roscoff is a charming coastal town located in the north-western part of France. Known for its picturesque harbour, breathtaking beaches, and quaint streets lined with colorful houses, this hidden gem is a must-visit for any first-time tourist exploring the region.
The Port of Roscoff is situated on the English Channel and is a popular port of call for tourists traveling by ferry from the UK and Ireland. This vibrant town is rich in history and culture and offers something for everyone, from exploring the town's museums and art galleries to savoring the fresh seafood in its restaurants.
The town's architecture is a mix of traditional Breton-style buildings and modern structures, giving it a unique character that's both charming and modern. Visitors to the Port of Roscoff can enjoy strolling through the town's cobbled streets, which are brimming with boutique shops selling souvenirs, local crafts, and fresh produce.
The town's main attraction is the harbour, where visitors can watch the comings and goings of the fishing boats and take in the panoramic views of the sea. It's also home to a bustling market where locals sell fresh produce, seafood, and other delicacies. The town's beaches are another major draw, with golden sands and crystal-clear waters that make it a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports.
Overall, the Port of Roscoff is a hidden gem that's waiting to be discovered. With its charming atmosphere, stunning scenery, and friendly locals, it's the perfect destination for anyone looking to explore the beauty of Northern France.
This is our first visit to Roscoff we took a short break with Brittany ferries. We landed in Saint Malo and did a scenic route to Roscoff.Where we stayed for 3 nights Bed and breakfast in a nice Hotel overlooking the harbour. Before catching the ferry a 5 minute drive away. The ferry took about 5 hours for the crossing then unfortunately it took a further 2 hours to open the bow door so we could get off.
We really liked the town it has a nice seafront with plenty of space to park.Several cobbled street with gift shops, restaurants and bars to walk round. Prices were reasonable we bought a large baguette each for a picnic lunch full of ham cheese and salad. We normally stay in a gite in the countryside so it made a nice change to walk round the cobbled street in the evening.
The first photo shows the hotel we stayed in.
The second shows a popular creperie. Which was always busy during our stay so we did not get to try it.
Just 2 of the many gift shops in the port
Here are some of the top attractions that you shouldn't miss while you're in Port of Roscoff:

3. The Old Harbour: The old harbor is the heart of Port of Roscoff, and a great place to take a stroll, admire the boats, and soak up the atmosphere. It's also home to some of the town's best seafood restaurants, where you can enjoy freshly caught fish and seafood.
4. Maison des Johnnies et de l'Oignon de Roscoff: This museum is dedicated to the history and culture of the famous Roscoff onions, which have been grown in the region for centuries. It's a fascinating and informative place to visit, and a great way to learn more about the local traditions and customs.
5. Plage du Laber: If you're looking for a beautiful and secluded beach, Plage du Laber is the perfect spot. With its crystal-clear waters, golden sands, and stunning views, it's a hidden gem that's well worth a visit.
