Saint Hymer is a small village located in the Normandy region of France, and it has a long and interesting history. The village is said to have been founded in the 5th century by Saint Hymer, a hermit who lived in the area. Over the centuries, the village has grown and prospered, and today it is a popular tourist destination. It is about 2 miles from another old village we visited earlier in the day. The village of Pierrefitte-en-auge. The nearest large town is at Lisieux about 6 miles away which has a large retail park for all your shopping needs
The village is at the bottom of a hill. There is an old church and several old timber framed houses.I noticed at one of the houses you could stay for B/B there is a car park opposite the church we stopped there for a picnic and then had a walk round
There is a post box in the car park we had bought 4 postcard earlier in Honfleur. We did not know if we should post them here in case they did not get collected. They were delivered to the UK in 3 days I was impressed
The village itself is a charming mix of old and new, with the traditional architecture of Normandy still very much in evidence. The village is also home to a number of interesting historical sites, including the Church of Saint Hymer, which was built in the 12th century. Other notable sights in the village include the old stone bridge and the Château de Montigny, a 15th century castle.
The nearby area offers plenty to explore, from the beautiful beaches of the nearby coast to the forests and rolling hills of the countryside. Visitors to the area will also find a number of interesting historical sites, such as the Bayeux Tapestry, the Mont Saint-Michel abbey, and the Caen Memorial Museum.
In short, Saint Hymer offers visitors a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Whether you're looking for a relaxing holiday or an exciting adventure, this small village in Normandy is sure to provide plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy.

Boulogne sur Mer Christmas Market is held in Place Godefroy de Boullon which is in the old part of town
The market is held in the narrow streets and squares behind the Citadel which looks like St Pauls Cathedral in London. You can not miss it it dominate the skyline overlooking the town. There is a car park just outside the town walls where you can park. Then just walk through the town gateway and the market is spread out in front of you.
