Ferry deals short breaks
P&O short breaks this year we thought we would try a mini cruise from Hull.It saves the drive down to Dover you can sail to Rotterdam or Zeebrugge.We picked the Rotterdam trip this time but will try the Zeebrugge in a months time both sailing offer excellent value.We sailed just before Christmas so there was plenty of room on the ferry as you can see from the photos.What you get is 2 nights in a cabin with shower and toilet for 2 people we took our car which gives you about 12 hours in Holland.The price for 2 people and the car was £75 a bargain you also had entertainment from a live group plus a DJ in the caberet lounge.The ship has a cinema a casino the usual shops and restaurants and quite areas where you can watch one of the many TVs

You have about 12 hours in Holland so you need to pick the area you are visiting carefully.This part of Holland as a lot of traffic so you are better picking places about 30 miles from the port.For this reason we picked the nice little town of Wassenaar 33 miles from the port about an hours drive

Like most small towns in the Netherlands the centre of Wassenaar is mostly traffic free.We had a walk round the shops then off to the nearest supermarket.To stock up on cheese,wine and anything that was different from the UK.Prices for food and drink were cheaper than the UK diesel was about a pound a gallon less than UK.They have a strange system you are charged more for paying for fuel in cash than on a card.
Our next stop was the seaside village of Katwijk aan Zee about 5 miles away.You can park nearly in the centre near the shops my wife bought a nice leather handbag.Then it was time for something to eat we choose a coffee shop with homemade cakes and sandwiches
