Loctudy
Loctudy is a picturesque fishing port located on the south coast of Brittany in France. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the port is renowned for its picturesque views of the surrounding countryside and its rich maritime history. The town is just across the bay from the resort of Ile Tudy but it is 10 miles by road. Four miles up the estuary is the town of Pont-l`Abbe
The harbour
Loctudy is a popular sailing centre and fishing port.There is a large marina area with boat sales and repair yards.We stopped in the car park next to the marina. Watching people working on their yachts while we had a coffee.Then it was off to the town centre a short dive away to have a walk round.There is a square in front of the town hall where the Tuesday morning market is held.
The Jetty come harbour
The nearby Pointe de Loctudy is a great spot for a sunset stroll, while the nearby beach of Loctudy is a great place for a relaxing swim or a spot of sunbathing. Visitors can also take a guided boat tour around the port to explore its hidden coves and inlets.
In addition to its maritime heritage, Loctudy is also home to a range of historic monuments and buildings. The Abbey of St. Pierre, dating back to the 12th century, is a great place to explore and learn about the towns fascinating history. The nearby Château de Loctudy is a 16th-century Renaissance castle, which offers spectacular views of the area.
For those looking for outdoor activities, the nearby Île de Batz is a great spot for a day trip. Visitors can explore the islands rugged landscape by foot, bike or kayak, or take a boat tour around the islands many coves and inlets.
Finally, no trip to Loctudy would be complete without a visit to the nearby city of Brest. Located just a short drive away, Brest is a vibrant city with a wealth of attractions to explore, including the iconic Tour Tanguy. The nearby beaches of Plouzané and Saint-Anne are also great spots for a day trip.
